The Less-obvious Laws of Life: Things They Don't Teach You in School
I
have experienced varying degrees of success with several different creative projects.
My most recent finished project is a little book that features musings
and advice for a successful, happy life. It's both a comedy book and a quote book.
It's something that I'll pass on to my children in order to help them develop
moral compasses. The book and accompanying merchandise are available at Cafepress.com.
Here are some quotes from my book, The Less-obvious Laws of Life: Things They
Don't Teach You in School by Andrew McQuinn:
If your toughest foe is not yourself, then your life is out of balance. We cannot always control our circumstances, but we can control our responses to our circumstances. Learn to master your emotions. Serenity is a state of mind. Utah is not a state of mind. Utah is a different type of state, containing land, animals, salty water and other things.
Be careful what you ingest. It might consume you. There are addictive materials that can make you a slave, both physically and mentally. If you abuse addictive substances, you risk losing control of your life. Be careful what you put into your mouth. Be careful what you let into your mind. If you ingest in jest, are you eating the words you spoke while making an ill-advised attempt at humor? Eating your words figuratively is regretful and embarrassing. Eating your words literally is bad if your words are on paper, and yummy if your words are in alphabet soup.
There is no shame in not doing something shameful. We all make mistakes. Recognizing our wrongs, feeling remorse, apologizing and making restitution (if possible) may be appropriate when dealing with our mistakes. Remorse naturally accompanies mistakes, but shame does not. Shame accompanies deliberate offenses. Don't commit offenses and you won't be associated with shame. Fame from shame is called infamy. Infamy looks bad on a resume, unless you are applying for the position of Diabolical Dictator.

I am currently writing and recording an entertainment/comedy audio program for children. The project will include some of my award-winning story material, as well as a bunch of short, nutty skits. I have been working on this project for several years. I may seek a grant in order to pay for professional cover art and for additional actors/narrators. I hope to have a finished master in mid 2008. If you'd like to receive notification when the product is available, please send me an email with "COMEDY PROJECT" in the header.
I am a voiceover actor and I'm always looking for interesting projects. Please consider using me for your advertisement or for your animated films! You can listen to my recent commercial demo here. I am currently working on a new animation demo.
